Loose Women’s Janet Street-Porter came under fire on Tuesday, as viewers were left unimpressed with her views regarding the government’s current policies on foreign holidays amid the Covid pandemic.
Leading the conversation on Tuesday’s show, Kaye Adams spoke to the ladies about Boris Johnson’s latest announcement.
Kaye explained that although there have been updates on pubs, salons and non-essential shops, Prime Minister Boris has so far failed to confirm the next steps going forward for those who may want to enjoy a holiday abroad.
Kaye asked Janet Street-Porter what her views are on foreign holidays.
The presenter said: “So just a kind of gut reaction Janet, are you feeling positive about the future or are you feeling flat?”
Outspoken Janet replied: “Flat…flat flat flat.”
“Why?” Kaye replied.
Janet responded: “I’ve obeyed all the rules, I’ve stuck to it and I think that the vast majority of the population have really done their best – and all he’s told us yesterday is what we were expecting anyway.
“He hasn’t given us any surprise, or any extras or any brownie points for being good. He’s still treating us like children, holding out a carrot saying further down the track I might or might not allow foreign holidays.”
She added: “Personally I’ve given up on the idea of going to Europe this summer because it sounds too complicated.”
She shouted: “All I want to do is go to Scotland, where I can wear my kilt!”
Despite her honest admission, several viewers did not see the funny side and took to Twitter to also complain about the ladies out touch views on holidays and Janet’s rant.
One outraged viewer responded to Janet’s remarks on Boris’ announcement and said: “Yes because he doesn’t want another spike too soon Janet FFS!!!!”
Another annoyed viewer wrote: “#LooseWomen Message from my auntie, Janet should stop talking rubbish of course the PM has to listen to the scientists and he’s just not saying what she wants to hear.”
A third penned: “Janet is a grumpy old soul today #LooseWomen”
