Susanna Reid was reunited with her former flame Steve Parish during a Good Morning Britain interview.
The 50-year-old TV host spoke to her ex-boyfriend about the scrapping of the European Super League on Tuesday night – but fans were more concerned about the awkward tension rather than the football chat.
It comes as plans for six of England’s biggest clubs to join the breakaway competition collapsed following a backlash from fans, and the Government.
Although Prime Minister Boris Johnson agreed that it was ‘the right result’, the UK government is now considering reforms for how sporting events are run.
Welcoming her former flame on the show to speak about the controversy, Susanna said: “We are joined now by Crystal Palace Football Club chairman Steve Parish.”
And it wasn’t long before Good Morning Britain fans flocked to Twitter to discuss the pair’s past romance and the ‘excruciatingly’ awkward interview.
“Didn’t Susanna used to date this Steve dude? If so, how awkward having to interview your ex-boyfriend on national TV,” quipped one viewer.
“Oh, wow Susanna and Steve. Well, this is going to be an excruciatingly awkward chat,” another echoed.
Meanwhile, a third pointed out: “Susanna chatting about football to Steve. They used to date, didn’t they?”
Susanna first went public with Steve back in November 2018 when they were pictured at a Crystal Palace v Chelsea match.
A friend told The Sun at the time: “They have known each other for several years through their connections to Palace.”
Susanna dated the Crystal Palace chairman for nine months but waited until December 2018 before confirming the romance.
In January 2019 Susanna revealed she was ‘very happy’ with Steve, but insisted she didn’t want to get married.
Just a few months later, the TV siren confirmed their relationship had fizzled out.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
