Actress and OJ Simpson's mistress Tawny Kitaen dies aged 59

Actress Tawny Kitaen has died at the age of 59, according to US site TMZ.

The star died on Friday in Newport Beach, California, the website reports.

As of yet, a coroner has not determined a cause of death for Tawny.

Tawny, born Julie Kitaen, was an American actress, comedian and general media personality, having moved on to reality television.

She was born in San Diego in California and decided to go by the nickname Tawny when she was just 12 years old, and it stuck with her ever since.

Tawny got a taste of stardom when she was 14, when she got a backstage pass to see Peter Frampton at Balboa Stadium.

Seeing the lavish way his girlfriend was treated, she aspired for that herself.

She went on to date Ratt guitarist Robbin Crosby, and appeared as the cover model of the band’s debut EP in 1983, and their debut album Out of the Cellar a year later.

It was around that time when she started acting, with her first role being a minor appearance in the TV movie Malibu.

She went on to star in the likes of erotic-adventure flick The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik-Yak, Bachelor Party alongside Tom Hanks, Witchboard, White Hot and Dead Tides.

Tawny was also a video girl for the rock band Whitesnake in the 1980s, starring in the clips for the songs The Deeper the Love, Here I Go Again, Still of the Night and Is This Love.

Her final on-screen appearance was in 2017 on reality show Botched, in which she had a bad boob job fixed.

Aside from acting, Tawny had somewhat of a dramatic life, as OJ Simpson admitted he had a year-long affair with her during his relationship with Nicole Brown Simpson.

She was married to Whitesnake singer David Coverdale between 1989 and 1991.

Tawny then married baseball player Chuck Finley in 1997 though they split in 2002, the same year being charged with a domestic violence incident involving Chuck.

She had repeatedly kicked him in the face with high-heeled shoes and, after a plea bargain, agreed to avoid contact with her ex and enter a counselling program.

Tawny and Chuck had two daughters together.

In 2006, Tawny was charged with possession of 15 grams of cocaine, and entered rehab in exchange for the charges being dropped.

Then, in 2009, she was arrested for a DUI in Newport Beach in California, and was subsequently sentenced to two days in jail, as well as attending an alcohol program and perform 64 hours of community service.
