Action man Ant Middleton has revealed that he is planning a new life for himself and his family in Australia as he is fed up with the “pretentious UK”.
The celebrity adventurer, who was fired from his show SAS Who Dares Wins, also said that he “fits in” Down Under and prefers it to here, which he claims is “a bit too PC for me, where I can’t be myself”.
Ant, 40, was given the sack by Channel 4 for making “inappropriate comments” on set, which he dismissed as “banter”.
Speaking on the James Smith Podcast, he said: “I have to suppress a part of me to fit in, which I don’t like doing and I won’t do as you’ve probably seen but here you’ve got that balance that right.”
Ant, who is a dad of five, added: “Witch hunt? I never thought that existed until the latest shenanigans with SAS UK.
“Ultimately people can see through it and know I was pushed before I could jump.”
He said he expects to appear in the Ozzie version of his quasi-military training show and move there next year.
Ant went on: “I’ve got a great connection with Australia. My wife also loves Australia.
“She did a gap year out here when she was young. She’s always said, ‘Let’s move to Australia’, So when SAS Australia came up, I was like, ‘Let’s see the layout, let’s see how it goes’.
“We’ve sort of made a decision to move out here next year.”
It came out earlier this year that Ant, who is a former Royal Marine, was drooped by Channel 4 over his “personal conduct”.
According to the Daily Mirror, four women had told broadcasting union Bectu he made “lewd and suggestive comments” to them while working on set.
Channel 4 previously said it “will not be working with him again” after several complaints.
Middleton said at the time: “They’ve seen a bit of military humour – and they really felt offended.” He said the “woke patrol” had taken over the show.
After being informed various crew members had gone to Bectu, a spokesman for Middleton said he “emphatically rejects” the allegations.
He said: “Ant has never at any point been accused of speaking inappropriately by anyone.”
Ant is married to Emilie, who he met at a bar in Essex when she was 24. She told The Sun: “It was love at first sight.
“He was so cheeky and funny, as well as good-looking and muscular, and I knew he was The One.”
