Angry Sharon Stone admits she is powerless to stop a more erotic version of Basic Instinct being released.
A saucier version of the 1992 thriller is being released to mark the 30th anniversary.
The Hollywood star, 63, fumed: “They’ve decided to release the director’s XXX cut for the 30th anniversary.
“There are new [Screen Actors Guild] rules about that that have been made but they were made after I, as a young lady, made this film, so don’t apply.”
She joked: “Regrets are like farts, you can’t get them back.
“Once they’re out, they’re stinky and gone.”
In the film, Stone’s character famously uncrosses her legs and exposes herself while being quizzed by cops.
The actress has always maintained that she did not know the movie would completely expose her on screen and wrote about her shock at seeing the preview in her recent memoir, The Beauty of Living Twice, saying she slapped director Verhoeven after watching the scene.
Basic Instinct, which Stone appeared in alongside Michael Douglas, helped catapult her to fame.
In the book, she wrote: “That was how I saw my vagina-shot for the first time, long after I’d been told, ‘We can’t see anything – I just need you to remove your panties, as the white is reflecting the light, so we know you have panties on.’

“Yes, there have been many points of view on this topic, but since I’m the one with the vagina, in question, let me say: The other points of view are bulls**t … It was me and my parts up there.”
But Verhoeven insists he did not exploit Stone, claiming she knew what she was doing.
In 2018 he told ICON: “Any actress knows what she’s going to see if you ask her to take off her underwear and point there with the camera.”
Stone’s memoir also details some of the sexual harassment she faced throughout her career – specifically being advised by a producer to sleep with a male co-star to improve their “onscreen chemistry”.
The plot of Basic Instinct is centred on a police detective Nick Curran, played by Douglas, who becomes involved in a torrid affair with Stone’s character Catherine Tramell, who is a suspect in a murder he’s investigating.

It received mixed reviews from critics, who praised the performances of its cast, original score, and editing, but criticised its writing and character development.
Despite these reviews and public protest, Basic Instinct was a box office success, grossing $352million worldwide, making it the fourth highest-grossing film of 1992 behind Disney’s Aladdin, The Bodyguard, and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.
