Piers Morgan has hit out at “hypocritical” Matt Hancock and slammed his conduct during the Covid-19 pandemic.
This comes after pictures were released by The Sun, which allegedly showed him kissing his foreign aide.
The former Good Morning Britain host highlighted that the Health Secretary had not followed his own rules after snaps of him allegedly snogging Gina Coladengelo were released into the public domain.
Taking to Twitter, the 56-year-old pointed out that the Conservative party member had “ordered the public not to hug loved ones” at the time the allegedly encounter reportedly took place.
The Life Stories star re-shared the pictures that have dominated the news today, while adding: “At the time he was ordering the British people not to hug anyone from other households…”
In a statement released today, the Health Secretary acknowledged “he’d let people down” and “accepts” that he had breached his own social distancing rules.
He said: “I accept that I breached the social distancing guidance in these circumstances.
“I have let people down and am very sorry. I remain focused on working to get the country out of this pandemic, and would be grateful for privacy for my family on this personal matter.”
The Sun claims that Mr Hancock was caught kissing his aide “just after 3pm on May 6”.
The lockdown roadmap also confirms that indoor mixing bans were still in place until May 17.
Those within the UK had also been banned from hugging loved ones outside at that time.
This would effectively mean that the Health Secretary had broken multiple Covid-19 rules that were introduced by himself and Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
The intimate snaps from within the Whitehall office also show he had seemingly failed to comply with social distancing rules during the passionate moment.
It comes after the same publication reported that a whistleblower had accused the Health Secretary of cheating on his wife of 15 years, Martha Hoyer Millar, during the Covid-19 pandemic.
A friend of the Health Secretary told The Mirror: “He has no comment on personal matters. No rules have been broken.”
Daily Star has contacted the Department of Health and Social Care for comment on the allegations.
