A former Coronation Street star has praised his “guardian angel” after a kind shopper came to his rescue at an Aldi supermarket.
Marcquelle Ward was shopping in an Aldi supermarket in Manchester, when his Apple Pay failed to work when he reached the checkout.
The former Corrie actor who played Mitch in the soap in 2009 revealed that a woman, who he knows only as “Lisa”, stepped forward to pay for half of his shopping.

The 37-year-old wants to highlight the kindness of the woman who was behind him in the queue at the Bradshaw Street Aldi store in Manchester saying: “She really just made my day and gave me faith in humanity. I want her to be recognised because it was so kind of her.”
In a post on Facebook, the actor shared the random act of kindness with his friends and followers.

“Nicest thing that’s ever happened to me shopping just happened to me this morning.
“So I was in my local Aldi and when I got to the till after everything had been scanned I realised I didn’t have my wallet.
“I didn’t panic because I had my phone which has got Apple Pay on right?
“But the amount of shopping was over the tap limit in one go so I asked if we could pay it in half. So that’s pay up to the limit and then pay again the rest.
“So as the guy behind the till and I were taking stuff off the first part of the bill then this woman comes forward.
“She was like ‘I’ll pay it” and I was like “I have got the money, I can just split the shopping up to pay on my card.” She was like: “Don’t worry about it, I will just pay it”.
Marcquelle, 37, who has played Rum Tugger in the West End musical Cats in 2015, asked for the kind woman’s bank details so he could transfer the money back to her.
Lisa who had “short hair with an orange highlight” wasn’t interested in the star paying her back, instead she wanted him to pay it forward.
“I was like what’s your social media accounts, anything, at least give me your name.

“She was called Lisa … she was like my guardian angel.”
The star who shot to fame in ITV’s Britannia High, says his mission is to take note from “Lisa” and “pay it forward”.
He also wants to let her know that he has the money if she wants it back.
“All she wanted was for me to pay it forward so that is my mission now.
“Plus I have the money on me just in case I bump into her again. Thank you Lisa I am still in awe of what just happened.”
Commenters flocked to the Facebook post to praise the random act of kindness from the sweet stranger, with one saying in response to the post: “Thank god still great people out there”
And another said: “It’s the random acts of kindness that we don’t see everyday that keep us as a society going.”
