Little Mix fans have come to the defence of Leigh-Anne Pinnock, saying her snub of Jesy Nelson was in fact a sign of “respect”.
The singer came under fire for cropping Jesy out of a picture of the new Little Mix waxwork figures recently unveiled at Madame Tussauds.
The 29-year-old took to her Instagram Stories to share a picture of the figures of her bandmates Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards.
The waxworks were based on the band’s iconic Bounce Back look from 2019, when Jesy was still a member.
But some were quick to notice that Jesy’s waxwork was not included, and took to Twitter to blast Leigh-Anne for leaving her out.
However, fans have now come out to defend the pop star and suggest that the cropping was deliberate on Leigh-Anne’s part as a way to respect Jesy’s choice to leave the band.
One fan suggested: “Of course she wouldn’t post Jess, why do y’al expect public interactions between them anymore. She did it out of respect for Jesy’s choice.”
“Let’s be real here. Leigh-Anne probably did that not to shade Jesy. J doesn’t want to get involved with them for now right? So don’t come at her because of that IG story. It’s more of Leigh giving respect to Jesy’s decision,” reasoned another.
Someone else chimed in to say: “Have u ever thought that she maybe do it cuz she wants to respect Jesy’s decision of not wanting to be associated with the group anymore??”
A fourth commented: “Leigh anne cropped jesy… probably to respect jesy’s wish of not being part of the gorup… jesy wants no part of LM and Leigh Anne posted… Little Mix?? Why is that such big issue to y’all?”
“y’all coming for Leigh when all she did was respect Jesy’s choices,” agreed a fifth.
Jesy left the girl group in December, citing the “toll” on her mental health that being in a girlband was having.
She has since announced plans for a solo career after signing a new record contract.
Meanwhile, speaking about the waxworks, Leigh-Anne gushed: “This is a dream come true.
“The figures are amazing, and the Madame Tussauds London artists have captured us perfectly.
“We’re so excited to be joining the attraction’s music zone and can’t wait to bring our family and friends down to see our figures for themselves.”
Perrie added: “The Madame Tussauds London artists are fantastic, our figures are so lifelike that it really could be us standing in the attraction.
“We’re so excited for our fans to see us in Madame Tussauds London and loved that some of them could be there to see the unveiling of the figures.”
