Meghan Markle is not expected to return to acting in the foreseeable future because she will be busy producing entertainment with Prince Harry, according to a Netflix boss.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a multi-year deal with the streaming giant in September last year and already have big projects in the pipeline, such as the recently announced children’s animation called “Pearl”.
In an interview with CNBC that reemerged when it was reported by Access Hollywood on July 30, Netflix co-CEO Reed Hastings said “smart” Meghan and Harry would focus on producing content – hinting the Duchess’ acting chops will be taking a backseat.

Talking in the interview, Reed said the couple would help make a “wide range” of “epic entertainment”.
But when the CNBC news host asked if Meghan would be acting in any of the planned entertainment, Reed appeared to say it was not on the cards.
He replied: “You know the real focus for them is on being producers and on building that production capacity so that’s the key thing.
“You know, they’ve developed a great eye for story and we’ll be working with them on that basis.”

Former TV star Meghan left the long-running American TV show Suits in 2018, which made her a household name, and since then she has had no new acting credits listed on IMDB.
But she did get to narrate the 2020 Disney Nature documentary called Elephant which told the tale of a mother African elephant crossing the Kalahari Desert with her baby son.

Talking about her upcoming Netflix kids’ cartoon in a statement, Meghan said: “Like many girls her age, our heroine Pearl is on a journey of self-discovery as she tries to overcome life’s daily challenges.
“I’m thrilled that Archewell Productions, partnered with the powerhouse platform of Netflix, and these incredible producers, will together bring you this new animated series, which celebrates extraordinary women throughout history.”
