Ant McPartlin 'struggled to hold it together' as Anne-Marie walked down the aisle

Ant McPartlin admitted during his wedding speech that he ‘struggled to hold it together’ as his new bride walked down the aisle to meet him at the altar.

The duo tied the knot on Saturday at an exclusive ceremony at St Michael’s Church in Heckfield, Hampshire before heading onto the swanky Heckfield Place hotel for the reception.

And during his wedding speech, Ant admitted: “When Anne-Marie walked into the church, I had to fight to hold it together as she looked so beautiful.”

Both of Anne-Marie’s daughters from her previous marriage performed readings, which included the Richard Bach poem The Bridge Across The River.

Rather aptly, it discusses soulmates.

Meanwhile, Ant’s on-screen bestie and real-life best man Declan Donnelly spoke of how Ant was the “best friend a man could have” and read a prayer.

The lavish reception at Heckfield Place included 150 guests, and the newlyweds were spotted beaming as they posed outside the venue.

And the couple’s beloved pooches Harley, Bumble and Milo also had a spot in their big day, featuring as impressive ornaments on the three-tier wedding cake, which hailed from baker Chris Murphy of Tuck Box Cakes.

The couple had a star-studded guest list including huge TV names like Phillip Schofield, BGT judge David Walliams, and Stephen Mulhern.

Phillip Schofield said of the ceremony: “It was amazing. Great fun, warm and beautiful.”

David Walliams, meanwhile, added that it was “very romantic”, while in-keeping with the funny vibe that Ant and his double-act partner Dec are so revered for.

According to guests, Stephen Mulhern played a key role in his pal’s big day, eagerly cracking jokes and declaring cheekily outside the church: “It’s my time! I’m getting married!”

Speaking to MailOnline, one guest said: “Stephen was hilarious. Nobody was expecting it, but he had everyone in rafts of laughter!”

When Anne-Marie turned up at 1.05pm, she looked stunning in a bespoke dress as she stepped out of a £300,000 Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

It looks like the day certainly went without a hitch – but Ant was likely feeling some pre-wedding “jitters”, at least according to body language expert Judi James.

Speaking to Daily Star, she said: “It was clear from their poses on the way into the church that Dec was there beside Ant not just to complete the double-act vibe but to provide some much-needed support in the face of what looked like some groom jitters.

“Dec romped around playfully, grinning into the cameras and performing thumbs-up gestures, while Ant stood around looking rather more rigid and with a nervous looking grin on his face.”
