Cheryl’s older brother is now homeless and living in a tent – and has to beg people for handouts on the streets.
Andrew Tweedy, 41, is the uncle to Cheryl’s four-year-old son Bear, and Cheryl paid for him to go to drug rehab.
However, the homeless sibling has said he hasn’t spoken to his pop star singer sister for years, and has been spending his days drinking beers in parks.
He said: “This is what I’m f***ing living like. I’ve been begging here for more than three months and it’s something that has really broken my heart.
“I’ve got so much f***ing pride. With the family I’ve got, I shouldn’t be here. It’s horrible.
“None of them have contacted me. Even though Cheryl’s not helping me, she’s still my family. She probably won’t even know I’m on the streets. I don’t blame her at all. This is the lowest I’ve ever been.”
Andrew wound up living rough after he split up from his girlfriend earlier this year, and currently resides in a northern England town with a friend he met on the streets, The Sun reported.
His tent was reportedly surrounded by empty cans of beer and bottles of urine, as the brother is waiting on temporary council accommodation.
Last week, police officers visited Andrew to find out why he had been pitched up in a council-owned green space.
One officer commented that they don’t have any real right to escort Andrew out of the area, because the land is owned by the council.
Andrew revealed that he had been working for two years, scaffolding and merchandising before things fell through with the partner he was living with.
Andrew has a son from a previous relationship, and has suffered a long history of drink and drug abuse.
Cheryl’s brother has also had a string of previous convictions – which includes being jailed for six years in 2011 for an armed robbery on a post office.
Tweedy told officers that his accomplices had stolen the goods before hiding a gun, machete and balaclavas at his home.
He was taken out of HMP Durham following fears that there was a £10,000 ‘price on his head’, and Andrew claimed that it would be too dangerous for him to return to his home city of Newcastle.
Andrew’s sister Cheryl is estimated to be worth a whopping £35million, and owns a £5million home in Hertfordshire.
In an emotional 2008 interview, Andrew said: “I watch Cheryl on TV and think, ‘Your life is so different to the one you left behind.
“She tells me I should be inspired by what she’s done and I can turn my back on booze and violence. Instead, like a fool, I go back to the drink and the glue.”
The local council stated that their housing team will always work with anyone who is in need of housing to come up with a solution.
