Mac Miller, otherwise known as Malcom McCormick, died on September 7 2018, at just 26 years old.
Prior to his death, Mac was famously in a relationship with Ariana Grande, who had supported him throughout his struggles, before they split earlier that same year.
Both Ariana and Mac had discussed his drug problems in the past, with the rapper telling Billboard in 2015 that he wasn’t “completely sober”, but was better than he had been in the years prior.
Mac had an incredibly successful career as a rapper in the US, and was increasingly popular in the UK too, with chart-topping albums and sell-out shows.
He appeared alongside Ariana for her show One Love Manchester following the shocking terror attack in 2017 at one of her concerts and the pair performed their songs together.

Sadly, Mac died of an accidental overdose the following year after drinking a cocktail of fentanyl, cocaine and alcohol, toxicologists confirmed.
On September 7 2018, Mac’s death was confirmed as an accidental drug overdose after he was found in his home in Los Angeles.
He was found unresponsive at his home on September 7 and as emergency services were called, was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy report was requested as the coroner awaited toxicology results, which came shortly after his death.
The report stated that Mac had died from an accidental overdose as a lethal cocktail of fentanyl, cocaine and alcohol was found in his body.

It was reported by Billboard that Mac was found face down in his home after being discovered by his personal assistant who was making a daily visit to his home in San Fernando Valley, LA.
She found him unresponsive on his bed at around 11:30am, it has been said, and the assistant moved him to the floor and performed CPR while on the phone to a 911 operator.
Paramedics arrived and he was declared dead at the scene, 16 minutes after the initial call.
The coroners report said an empty bottle of liquor and drug paraphernalia – including a $20 bill with white power residue on it – was found by a police investigator.

Mac famously had many tattoos, some of which were referenced by the coroner’s office, with one of his tattoos being an hourglass with the words, “Only so much time left in this crazy world.”
As part of the investigation, Mac’s mother had told investigators that he had not overdosed or been hospitalised in the past to her knowledge.
She also said they had spoken the night before his death and that he was in good spirits, adding that he was excited about a new album and tour, which his assistant agreed with.
Mac’s body was flown back to his hometown in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in preparation for his funeral, with a Jewish service held for him at a chapel in the city.

A public vigil was also held for Mac by fans at Pittsburgh’s Blue Slide Park days beforehand.
At the time of his death, a source close to Mac’s family told Hollywood Life that his “drinking and drug use was an issue that was no secret to anyone in the family.”
They added that the family was concerned for Mac and added: “Everyone in his family is completely shocked, devastated and heartbroken right now. No one can believe Mac is really gone.”
Ariana also opened up on dealing with the grief that followed his death, telling Vogue that it was “all-consuming”.

She said: “He was the best person ever, and he didn’t deserve the demons he had. I was the glue for such a long time, and I found myself becoming… less and less sticky. The pieces just started to float away.”
Three men were charged in connection with Mac’s death, with Cameron James Petit being arrested on September 4, 2019 for allegedly selling counterfeit oxycodone pills laced with the opioid fentanyl to the rapper, Malcolm McCormick.
Ryan Reavis was the second suspect arrested in the investigation, though no details were released regarding his charges.
A third man, Stephen Walter, was arrested for allegedly sourcing the lethal oxycodone that Petit allegedly sold to Miller.
The suspects have all been in custody in LA since their arrests, with their trial set to begin on November 16, 2021.
