Michael Jackson's son Blanket makes rare TV appearance on Good Morning Britain

Michael Jackson’s son Blanket made a rare appearance on Good Morning Britain to discuss climate change.

The 19-year-old son of the late King Of Pop had completely stepped away from the spotlight after his father’s tragic death in 2009.

However, he decided to let down the barriers to speak about matters close to his heart as he joined his brother Prince’s Thriller Night Halloween Party.

The event, that was filmed in California on Friday, was held to raise funds for The Heal Los Angeles Foundation.

Knowing how much the planet meant to his dad MJ, Blanket – who was born Prince Michael Jackson and now goes by Bigi – wanted to speak up about protecting the planet.

In the segment, Blanket spoke about his famous father’s hit 1982 song Earth Song which raised some important issues about the world we all live in.

Dressed in a white T-shirt, tracksuit bottoms and wearing his long dark hair in loose curls, he certainly wasn’t dressed for the October festivities.

All of Michael’s offspring were present at the gathering, including sister Paris, 23, who did show up in fancy dress.

She donned a red painted beard and moustache, trousers covered in paint and yellow beret hat to complete her Vincent Van Gogh inspired costume.

Their older brother Prince 24, had also got into the spirit of Halloween, turning up to the bash as a seaman rocking chunky fisherman boots, a striped shirt and captain’s hat.

In 2009, Blanket and his siblings’ lives were turned upside down when their father passed away, with the trio being raised by their grandmother Katherine Jackson.

Michael’s youngest child was given his nickname because his father would often shield his identity with a blanket during the height of his career, giving his son an opportunity to try and lead a private life.

While he is very rarely seen in the public eye, he has started a YouTube channel under the adopted name Bigi.

In November 2002, when Blanket was nine months old, the Thriller creator held him over the balcony of his Berlin hotel – four stories above ground level – leading to widespread outrage.

Michael later admitted it had been a “terrible mistake” and according to a bodyguard at the time, the hitmaker locked himself in a room for a day after feeling shamed.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV
