Jessie J was reduced to tears on stage as she performed for fans just a day after tragically losing her unborn child.
The chart-topping star announced to her fans that she had sadly had a miscarriage, discovering her baby had died when she went for her third scan and was told that the foetus had no heartbeat.
Jessie, 33, broke down on stage at The Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles during a two-hour acoustic set where she admitted that she thought getting on stage to sing would “help her”.
Before the show Jessie chatted to fans at the venue confiding in them that she had chosen to perform despite her heartbreak.
She said: “What I do know is that I want to sing tonight. Not because I’m avoiding the grief or the process, but because I know singing tonight will help me.”
She then took time during her performance to open up further to her audience about the tragic loss.
Jessie said: “I decided to have a baby by myself and by a miracle it worked for a while and yesterday it was f***ing s***.”
“This year has been hands down the hardest year I’ve ever had to get through … I lost my baby and I know I’m going to be OK.”
The Who You Are singer also posted to Instagram to update her fans on social media about what had happened while trying to process the loss.
She wrote: “I started singing when I was young for joy, to fill my soul and self-love therapy, that hasn’t ever changed and I have to process this my way.
“I want to be honest and true and not hide what I’m feeling. I deserve that. I want to be as myself as I can be in this moment. Not just for the audience but for myself and my little baby that did its best.”
Jessie then admitted feeling overwhelmed and “in shock” as she signed off on the post.
She added: “I’m still in shock. The sadness is overwhelming. But, I know I am strong, and I know I will be ok … It’s the loneliest feeling in the world.”
