EastEnders fans point out 'disturbing' Tina death plot hole as Gray panics

EastEnders fans have pointed out a potential plot hole in Tina Carter’s gruesome death in the latest episode.

Monday’s episode of the BBC One soap saw Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith) visit the recently exploded Argee Bhajee.

Having previously buried Tina’s body there, the anxious serial killer posed as an insurance broker for the restaurant in order to look inside the premises and question a builder about the plans to restore it.

Gray was then informed that builders would ‘strip the place right back’ and “rip the floor up”, with Gray looking nervously through the floorboards to where Tina’s body is allegedly stashed below.

While Gray fretted, EastEnders viewers had trouble believing that a rotting body had been residing for over a year beneath the restaurant without anybody smelling it – and posting to Twitter, they shared their complaints.

One viewer wrote: “Are you telling me it doesn’t smell so bad in there? You’d think there wasn’t a decaying body lol.”

Another commented: “The Argee Bhagee. Where rotting dead bodies don’t smell.”

A third said: “Surely without sounding disturbing the place would smell by now with a body below the floor?”

Gray looked anxiously through the floorboards but viewers took issue

Meanwhile, a fourth viewer complained: “Don’t dead bodies usually just let off a horrific smell as they slowly decompose over a particular period?

“Yet nobody noticed at the time really.”

A fifth gruesomely concluded: “Tina must smell like an onion bhaji by now.”

Gray murdered Tina (Luisa Bradshaw-White) in December 2020 after Tina discovered Gray was responsible for the death of his wife, Chantelle Atkins (Jessica Plummer).

A builder informed Gray he would be ‘ripping up the floorboards’ where Tina’s corpse is supposedly residing

Initially, EastEnders viewers were not made aware of the location of Tina’s body.

Fans last saw the sister of Shirley driven off in the boot of Gray’s car, leading to speculation she was possibly alive – though this was later shot down.

Monday’s scenes are rumoured to be the beginning of Gray’s downfall, as the multiple murderer finally has his past catch up with him.

The closing moments of the episode saw Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) visit the police station and inform officers that she ‘needs to report a murder’.

Is this the end for Gray?

EastEnders airs on BBC One.
