Connor Ball saw viewers gritting their teeth as he bled through his stitches last weekend (February 6) on Dancing On Ice, now, he shares the true extent of his injury.
The Vamps bassist, 25, is currently competing on the ITV skating competition with professional skater Alexandra Schauman but suffered an injury last Sunday, resulting in him requiring stitches.
While he initially believed he had just cut his chin, the rocker has now shared the full extent of his injury that left him requiring physio treatment.
Despite his painful ordeal, he will still be skating as planned in this weekend’s live show (Sunday 13).
He told Daily Star: “I was practising the spin backstage, it happened two minutes before the show was meant to go live.
“The stitches are fine, they never actually split on the show, people thought they’d split but I actually bled through them because the blood was pumping from the routine.”
The Aberdeen-born star went on to say: “What I didn’t know is that I dislocated my shoulder as well, I didn’t know at the time because of the adrenaline but the physio popped it back in without me knowing because I was high off of the adrenaline.
“I was so focused because there was blood everywhere that I just didn’t even feel it and she popped it back in and then I did the routine but it kind of came out again.
“She popped it back in while I was getting stitched up, I’m all strapped up around the shoulder.”
Away from his music career with The Lunar Year and The Vamps, he recently announced that he was now the co-owner of LDN UTD, an esports organisation that combines gaming and social issues.
Having struggled with his own mental health, Connor knew this was the right decision to make.
Reflecting on his business venture, he explained: “I’ve been friends with the guys for a while now, the team is great, I did an event for them in November, which was at Samsung KX.
“Through that I just got talking to them even more and the opportunity came up and I’m now a co-owner which is amazing, the fact they can focus on a lot of social issues as well as gaming, I love that.
“Gaming is a form of escapism, I’ve met some of my best friends through gaming, it’s not like work where you will meet someone and you have to be friends with but you can choose who you want to hang out with and form great friendships.”
The Can We Dance star went on to add: “I’ve spoken about mental health a lot in the past but I think in comparison to other esports teams, the fact at London United we focus on tackling social issues, there have been events they’ve done like UnitedAgainstRacism, GrimeAgainstKnives and they’re really focused on that aspect and I can only add on to what they’ve already done so I’m super excited.”
Dancing on Ice airs Sunday at 7pm on ITV
