Glastonbury Festival bosses shocked as huge pop superstar pulls out of the festival

Chart-topping sensation Taylor Swift has pulled out of Glastonbury Festival 2022 two years after her 2020 appearance was cancelled due to Covid.

The special occasion was said to be a “huge moment” for The Shake it Off singer with it’s widely anticipated return set for June 22 to June 26 this year.

Many were excited to see Taylor, 32, take to the main stage following an incredible two years in which she has scored four number one albums.

Glastonbury has twice been cancelled due to Covid, but Taylor has now apparently said she will give this year’s event a miss as she focuses on re-recording her album.

A music insider told The Sun: “Taylor politely declined when she was approached because the timing just isn’t right at the moment.”

They added that the superstar is still keen to headline the festival, which is said to be on her bucket list, but that performing isn’t top of her agenda at the moment with old albums still needing re-recording.

Taylor revealed that despite always wanting to perform at Glastonbury, her decision to pull out is the “right decision”.

Taylor said: “I wanted to perform in places I hadn’t performed in as much, do things I hadn’t done — like Glastonbury. I haven’t done festivals, really, since early in my career.

“They’re fun and bring people together in a really cool way. It’s so sad. But I know it’s the right decision.”

Despite Taylor pulling out and leaving the festival’s organisers confused, the show’s other headline acts, Billie Eilish and Kendrick Lamar, are still set to top the Pyramid stage in June.

Diana Ross has also been confirmed for the Sunday afternoon Legends slot.

BRIT award winner Little Simz is the third act this year to be confirmed for the festival.

Noel Gallagher, Haim and Crowded House are also expected on the line-up.

The Daily Star has approached Taylor’s representatives for comment.
