Sir Elton John was forced to make a terrifying emergency landing after his private jet suffered hydraulics failure at 10,000ft in the air.
According to reports in The Sun, the aircraft had to abort landing twice due to strong winds of up to 80mph.
Fire crews were on standby as the private jet declared an emergency landing to take place at Farnborough airport, Hants.
Daily Star has contacted Elton John’s reps for comment and they have declined to offer anything additional at this stage.
A witness told the publication: “The jet was being buffeted and couldn’t land. It was horrible to see.”
It was also reported that the hitmaker, 74, had been left shaken up by the frightful situation – however Elton wouldn’t allow it to stop him making an important gig in the US.
The I’m Still Standing chart topper is believed to have caught another flight later on.
The £66million plane is said to have come into difficulty shortly after take-off, with the vessel heading for New York for 10:20am.
Elton and crew were only an hour into the trip when it became apparent that there were problems on-board with the hydraulics, which resulted in the captain needing to make a U-turn and declare an emergency.
Another witness explained that the bad weather hadn’t helped matters, with the jet attempting to make two landing unsuccessfully.
The weather across the UK has been notoriously bad since Storm Eunice hit last Friday – with winds fetching up to 122mph.
The MET office issued red weather warnings, requesting for people to only travel if absolutely necessary.
Just yesterday, Storm Franklin hammered England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland – with flood warnings in place.
