A string of comedians have been axed from Britain’s Got Talent this year because they weren’t woke.
Comics love to audition for the ITV family show and cause shock waves with their jokes.
But it seems some were too near the mark in our current cancel culture.
Show boss Simon Cowell, 62, was worried about the offence they might cause so he cut them out of the final edit.
He explained: “There are always moments, particularly some of the comedians. We were like, ‘Whoahhhh!’ But luckily those aren’t live. So we have the edit.
‘”We really consider carefully what’s going to be shown and what’s not going to be shown.”
Asked if he had witnessed a “Will Smith moment” when someone has been slapped for making an inappropriate joke like at the Oscars, he said: “We haven’t had that yet.”
Meanwhile, Cowell is confident other talent shows will not steal BGT’s TV crown.
His show has been off air since 2020 and in that time, The Masked Singer, I Can See Your Voice and Starstruck have taken over.
Asked about that, Cowell said: “I’m slightly out of touch but I do know the shows you are referring to.
“How does it compare to some of those other shows? It is better? Come on, you’ve got to give me that one.”
It comes as BGT faced its first fix row before the launch episode has even aired.
The opening episode features one star who rose to fame on the soundtrack for hit movie musical The Greatest Showman, Loren Allred – from one of Cowell’s favourite films.
Loren lent her voice to the ballad Never Enough on the soundtrack alongside the likes of Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron and Zendaya.
Though she didn’t appear on-screen in the hit flick, she instead lent her voice to Rebecca Ferguson’s character Jenny Lind – a professional opera singer hired by P. T. Barnum to help raise money for his circus.
And despite Simon’s love for The Greatest Showman, The Sun reports that he seems “oblivious” when Loren first walks on stage, asking her: “Welcome, what’s your name and where are you from?”
American Loren goes on to explain her part in the hit musical, admitting she provided the voice to Ferguson’s mimed vocals in the film – after which Simon banged on the desk and yelled: “Oh my God!”
He went on: “So you sang one of the biggest songs of all time. You’ve revealed it wasn’t the actress who sang the song in the movie — it was you singing the song.”
Loren went on to perform an incredible rendition of her hit, admitting she was “more comfortable behind the scenes” but is now ready to “put a face” to Never Enough.

Fans have already reacted to the news on social media, with one fuming: “I don’t know why acts like this are allowed to audition, it’s unfair on those who genuinely audition and aren’t already kind of famous!”
Another added: “Oh wow. I’m surprised she was allowed [to be honest] considering she’s basically already a star.”
However, it is reported that Loren chose herself to audition – and finished 13th in The Voice – so there’s no reason for her not to go far in the competition.
Britain’s Got Talent starts Saturday on ITV at 8pm and continues Sunday at 7.35pm
