Taron Egerton 'splits from girlfriend' after work schedules 'put pressure' on romance

Taron Egerton has split from his girlfriend Emily Thomas due to hectic work schedules, just weeks after collapsing on stage.

The actor, best known for his role as Elton John in his biopic Rocketman and Eggsy Unwin in The Kingsman, was dating assistant director Emily Thomas but the pair have recently decided to call time on their relationship.

It has been reported that their schedules differed greatly which lead to relationship strains, but that the 32-year-old big screen star is on Raya, a private membership-based social network.

A source claimed: “Taron and Emily have both been really busy for the past year and it put a lot of pressure on their relationship. They have separated and it hasn’t been easy for either of them. He is taking some time for himself now but he is open to meeting someone else soon.”

They continued to The Sun: “He has been putting himself out there on Raya in the hopes he can ease himself back into dating.”

The decision appears final as the actor has also deleted all of the pictures of Emily from his Instagram page.

Taron recently pulled out of his role in the West End due to “personal reasons” after he fainted on stage during his show’s opening night.

Egerton was set to star in Cock and opened the performance back in March, but the actor unfortunately fell ill and fainted on stage.

He also had to refrain from acting whilst he recovered from Covid-19, but laughed off the fainting spell which he jokingly put down to “giving such a committed, electrifying performance that his body couldn’t handle it”.

It was reported that Taron made it through the play but fainted five minutes before the finale, which meant that his understudy had to step in and finish off the show.

He updated his Instagram story for his concerned fans and told them that he was “completely fine” before reassuring them that he would be “back with a vengeance”.

Taron was only affected by a “slightly sore neck and a bruised ego,” while the production released a statement.

They confirmed that Taron did faint but that a “doctor who was in the audience attended to him immediately”.
