Jack Whitehall took a savage shot at Piers Morgan when he said he ‘didn’t want to be de-platformed’ and end up on the broadcaster’s new TalkTV channel.
The comedian ripped into Piers and his brand new TV channel, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch, just two days after it launched on the airwaves.
The launch on Monday (April 25) featured Piers’ heated chat with former US president Donald Trump, who stormed off before the interview was over after clashing with Piers over the US election.
Former BRITs host Jack made the ‘de-platform’ dig when he appeared on ITV’s Good Morning Britain via video link on Wednesday (April 27) – Piers’ old daytime show.
Jack spoke to hosts Susanna Reid and former MP Ed Balls about his time hosting the BRIT Awards and Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars.
Susanna asked the stand-up what he thought about the incident, Jack advised comedians to be careful who they pick on before explaining he will always take a shot at Piers if he’s up on stage as he’s a “very safe target”.
He then quipped that Piers wouldn’t be able to get up on stage in enough time to confront Jack.
Jack said: “You know this about me, Susanna, if ever I’m in a room it’s just throw Piers Morgan under the bus over and over again because I know that that’s a very safe target, because there’s no way Piers would be able to get up onto the stage to slap me and I would be able to run away.”
Guest host Ed Balls then weighed in to have a pop at Piers himself from the former GMB host’s old desk.
Referencing the time Piers stormed off the GMB set during a row about Meghan Markle, he said: “He wouldn’t walk on, Jack, he’d walk out.”
Jack replied: “Oh, shots fired!” to which Ed replied: “I think that’s the way it works.”
Later on, Susanna told Jack “take care up there on stage”, to which Jack replied: “I don’t want to get de-platformed and end up on TalkTV”.
Reid replied: “One of the most successful cancellations of all time,” and Jack added: “Don’t cancel me, please.”

Jack also said he thought he pushed it quite far with his jokes when he hosted the BRITs, but now wonders if he could have gone even further.
The comic has hosted the annual music event for four years, and it’s seen him craft controversial one-liners about Little Mix stars “popping out babies” amid Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Perrie Edwards’ pregnancy announcements.
Teasing pop star Olly Murs, Jack said: “I always thought I pushed it quite far on the BRITs but maybe I didn’t push it far enough. I didn’t get Olly Murs to snap and come up onto the stage and slap me. I feel like it’s a missed opportunity.”
