Piers Morgan calls Harry and Meghan 'renegades' and says Queen's snub 'good decision'

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle announced they would be returning to London with their two children for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee events.

Their announcement came just minutes after Buckingham Palace announced the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will not appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony for Trooping The Colour.

Instead, Her Majesty, 96, will be joined by members of her family who undertake official public roles, including Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall and Prince William and his wife, Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge.

Alongside senior royals, Princess Anne and her husband Sir Timothy Laurence will appear with Princess Alexandra.

Buckingham Palace said: “After careful consideration, the Queen has decided this year’s traditional Trooping the Colour balcony appearance on Thursday, June 2 will be limited to Her Majesty and those members of the royal family who are currently undertaking official public duties on behalf of the Queen.”

Shortly after the news, Piers penned: “Queen bans Harry, Meghan & Andrew from Buckingham Palace balcony for Trooping of Colour ceremony during Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Only working royals performing duties for her will attend. Massive snub to the renegade Sussexes and her shamed son. Good decision.”

Moments later, a statement issued by the Sussexes read: “Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are excited and honoured to attend The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this June with their children.”

This didn’t go down too well with Piers who commented: “Oh God, they’re coming anyway… Wait for the Sussex circus to steal all the focus from the Queen.”

It will be the first time Harry and Meghan have brought their family to the UK since leaving for the US.

However, the Sussex family won’t be the only members of the Royal Family shunned from the famous balcony.

Her Majesty has also taken her “favourite” son, Prince Andrew off the guestlist after he stepped down from official duties in 2019.

But, the Queen has made an exception for her two youngest grandchildren Lady Louise and James, and her Cambridge great-grandchildren George, Charlotte and Louis.

A spokesperson commented: “In addition, the Cambridge and Wessex children are also expected to appear as is Sir Tim Laurence, who the Queen is happy to attend as a frequent attendee and support for the Princess Royal on official engagements.”

This will mark the first time Meghan will have met with her in-laws at a public event since her move to California.

She has since met with The Queen, Charles and Camilla during a secret visit to Windsor ahead of the Invictus Games.
