Simon Cowell and Sinitta's romance – Brad Pitt rivalry, baby heartache and marriage vow

For over three decades, music mogul and Britain’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell and singer Sinitta Malone shared a turbulent romance.

Having met in the 1980’s, the former couple formed a strong bond during the height of Sinitta’s singing career.

But what came to follow was a 30-year love affair filled with passion, jealousy, insecurity and mystery which repeatedly saw the pair make up and break up all over again.

The couple’s relationship was one that often caused a fair amount of media attention as many wondered whether they were actually dating or not despite their strong friendship.

With the pair reportedly on good terms, Daily Star has taken a look inside their relationship and where their friendship stands now.

Simon and Sinitta first met in 1983 when Sinitta, then thought to have been 20 years old at the time, became his first signing under his label.

The pair kept their relationship fairly low-key but images that emerged at the time insinuated that they were more than just friends.

Although Sinitta first denied that her and Simon engaged in sex during their younger days, she later retracted her statement and revealed that their relationship was a sexually intimate one.

She later confirmed this in an interview by saying: “We did have a proper physical relationship. I don’t know how this idea we didn’t has come about.”

First of many splits

After the release of Sinitta’s smash hit, So Macho, the pair’s relationship seemed to be going strong.

However, according to reports, the couple suffered a breakup not so long after.

Although Simon was relatively unknown at the time, Sinitta revealed that due to his flirtatious ways with other women, she became jealous and would call things off with the music mogul as a result.

She once said: “Even before he was Simon Cowell, the big mogul, women were attracted to him, and as a young girl dating him, I felt terribly threatened because he was always such a flirt.”

She later went on to date David Essex for a short period of time as a result.

Sinitta previously said: “He’d do weird things to p*** my boyfriend off and then, of course, I’d go back to him.

“I dated David Essex for a bit and he’d be just winding him up. He’d be like ‘look how old he is… he could be your grandad… look at his hair’. He’d just pick holes so I’d go off them and go running back to him.”

Brad Pitt

In 1988, Simon and Sinitta parted ways once again, but during this time, Sinitta went on to date Hollywood icon Brad Pitt.

Speaking about how the romantic connection came about the singer told the Mirror: “He came to the UK and asked to meet me. I was quite prominent then. When I saw a picture, I was like [gasps] ‘OK, I’ll go. Who is he? Get him, get him!’ I went on this date with him and we just clicked.

“I had no decorum, I was like, ‘OK, I’ve got a new house, do you want to live with me?’

She added: “I didn’t have any furniture, I didn’t have any food in the fridge, but I had him and I was happy. He was just really fun. Everybody was after him and I was quite jealous.”

But after the pair’s romance came to an end, Sinitta fell right back into the arms of Simon once again.

Hitmaker Sinitta previously revealed that she had hoped to one day settle down with Simon once he had got the “madness” of other women out of his system.

Speaking candidly to OK! she said: “Simon might say differently, [but] I really believed when he got all the madness of the other women out of his system, we’d end up together.

“I adore his family, they adore me, it always felt comfortable and right with him and I would’ve married him and stayed with him forever. I never fell out of love with him.”

It was also later revealed that Sinitta and Simon decided to abort their unborn child during the 1980s.

She told The Sun: “It was upsetting and it was something very difficult that we dealt with together. It’s such a heartbreaking thing to go through. It was devastating for both of us.”

Abrupt end

Although their ongoing relationship lasted for many years, Sinitta went on to marry Andy Willner in 2002.

The couple share two children together Magdalena and Zac.

But Sinitta agrees that her relationship is now strictly in the “friend zone” with Simon when conceived son Eric with a married Lauren Silverman in 2013.

This took place three years after Sinitta’s marriage to financier Andy Willner came to an end.

In 2017, Sinitta told The Mirror that she still fancies the BGT judge.

She expressed: “There’s still sexual chemistry between Simon and I. I still fancy him – there are lots of things I find very attractive about him, but I’ve been programmed to like Simon.”
