BBC Breakfast fans beg for Victoria Derbyshire to be permanent host as she replaces Naga

BBC Breakfast viewers have demanded Victoria Derbyshire become a permanent host on the popular morning news show after she stepped in for Naga Munchetty.

During Friday’s (May 6) instalment of the beloved BBC One show, fans were surprised by a familiar face after the 47-year-old took a step back from her presenting duties on the show.

Presenting the show alongside Charlie Stayt on the red sofa, the brunette beauty wowed viewers with no-nonsense attitude as she interviewed a number of guests on the show.

And it appears as though broadcaster Naga could be fighting her way back onto the morning show after viewers fell in love with mum-of-two who covered for her during her absence.

Throughout the show, users flooded to Twitter to share their approval of the 53-year-old newsreader as fans begged for her to take up a full-time position on the show.

One user penned: “@BBCBreakfast Victoria Derbyshire an excellent presenter btw [by the way].”

Another agreed: “Victoria Derbyshire on the #BBCBreakfast sofa. That really should be a permanent change.”

A third gushed: “Yes yes yes. No silly giggling or playground jokes. Just serious news and event reporting.”

“Nice to see Victoria Derbyshire on @BBCBreakfast #bbcnews.”

However, not everyone was a fan of the evening newsreader making the red sofa a permanent change as one user argued: “How cr*p is Victoria Derbyshire on BC Breakfast. I hope this isn’t a permanent move #BBCBreakfast.”

Another asked: “@BBCBreakfast where is Naga today, V Derbyshire don’t rock my boat, in fact she is far too pretentious and snooty to boot.”

But the overwhelming support for the reporter could well lead to a full-time role as a Breakfast host ahead of an upcoming vacancy on the legendary red sofa.

Dan Walker, who hosts the show from Monday to Wednesday, announced last month that he would be moving over to Channel 5.

The presenter has since confirmed he has less than two weeks until his move from the BBC to the rival broadcaster, could this mean Victoria will take his place alongside Sally Nugent?
