Saturday Morning star James Martin has opened up on his split from James Bond producer Barbara Brocolli – after the Casino Royal star tried to buy him a £180,000 supercar.
The TV chef opened up about his split from the star, saying that it was the moment he realised that there was an ‘imbalance in their relationship.
The couple dated for over four and half years until 2008, after the couple met at a charity auction, and ‘instantly clicked’.
Barbara, who is reported to be worth over £300million and produced films including No Time To Die and Casino Royal, bought James many gifts during the time that they were together including three genuine Picasso paintings.
However in a recent interview, James revealed that when she wanted to treat him to a £180,000 supercar, it was the moment that he realised there was an ‘imbalance’ in their relationship, saying to The Mirror: “It wasn’t as if it was my birthday or Christmas – it was just a spur of the moment thought.
“In the end I said, ‘If I want something, I’ll work for it. Just drop it or we’re going to fall out over this.
“It was a defining moment in our relationship. Deep down, I knew there was always going to be an imbalance.”
Speaking about their break up to The Mirror in the same year of their split in 2008, he added that it was: “for the best,” but “To walk away from someone you love and who loves you that much is hard.
“Maybe it was the daftest thing I have done in my life but it was probably the most sensible, too.”
Since their split, James has dated Miss England Sally Kettle, before forming a long term relationship with TV producer Louise Davies – who he met on the set of Celebrity Who Wants To Be A Millionaire in 2011.
Barbara was previously married to American producer Frederick Zollo, with who she has one child.
