The One Show made a heartwarming gesture towards Dame Deborah James after her recent passing due to a long battle with bowel cancer.
The former journalist died on Tuesday (28 June) and tributes for her have been pouring in ever since.
Deborah’s famous friends and fans have flooded social media with messages of love and comments of condolence after her death, which has clearly shaken the nation.

During The One Show, presented by Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas, the presenters included a short segment at the end which was dedicated to bowel cancer activist.
Alex read out a passage that said: “Before we go, we would like to echo everybody’s thoughts and say how sorry we were to hear the news that Dame Deborah James has died. She was such a joyous force of nature and the legacy she’s left is incredible so our thoughts are with her family and friends.”
She went on to inform viewers that they can currently watch a tribute dedicated to Dame Deborah on BBC’s iPlayer or catch it broadcast on BBC One at 8:30pm tomorrow night (30 June).
A picture of Deborah was shown on the television screen behind the two hosts while they relayed the message and they looked up at her image as the camera panned away.
The cancer campaigner died aged 40-years-old after receiving end of life care at her parent’s home in Surrey.
The star had raised millions in aid of cancer research and made a huge impact on a lot of lives after she advocated tirelessly for bowel cancer awareness.
She hosted the You, Me and the Big C podcast and was deservedly awarded a damehood back in May.
Deborah was diagnosed in 2016 and outlived all expectations.
Her family shared the sad news on her Instagram profile and called her “amazing”: “We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Dame Deborah James; the most amazing wife, daughter, sister and mummy.”
She reportedly passed peacefully, whilst surrounded by loved ones.
Throughout her life, she received endless praise for her campaigns after her career in journalism and as a deputy head teacher, and a writer for The Sun.
