BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty missing as Nina Warhurst replaces star in show shake-up

BBC Breakfast landed itself in a major show shake-up on Thursday (August 18) morning.

Today’s episode saw BBC regular Naga Munchetty, 47, replaced in a sudden move by Nina Warhurst, who sat alongside veteran Charlie Stayt on the famous red sofa.

Charlie and Naga usually present the show together from Thursday to Saturday each week, with temporary presenters joining the studio on a Sunday.

The duo were joined by regular weather presenter Carol Kirkwood or an overview of the day’s forecast, but the switch didn’t go unnoticed by viewers questioned: “BBCBreakfast @NinaWarhurst Charlie… where is @TVNaga01?”

Another pointed out: “Different atmosphere on @BBCBreakfast this morning with @NinaWarhurst rather than @TVNaga01.”

While a third noted Nina’s presence and commented on how she looked, writing: “Loving @NinaWarhurst outfit today. The polka dot skirt looks brilliant on you.”

It is unknown why the newsreader is absent from today’s instalment and whether she will return to her regular hosting duties tomorrow.

Charlie and Nina were present last weekend when they joined forces to host Saturday (August 13) and Sunday’s (August 14) programmes.

They were joined in the studio by sports correspondent Holly Hamilton who came to update viewers on the weekend’s football results.

However Nina asked the Irish presenter to swiftly move on when she began her segment.

Kicking off talking about Manchester United ‘s devastating 4-0 defeat to Brentford on Saturday (August 13), Holly said: “Speaking of people swimming in hot water, Manchester United.”

She added: “You know we’re not quite sure what’s left to say really. We can’t really lament, it’s only two weeks in…”

Nina, 41, saw this as the perfect opportunity to change the topic as she interjected: “Let’s just move on Holly.”

“I thought you might say that, Nina!” Holly responded before adding: “I wasn’t sure if you were going to put yourself out there.”
