Miranda Hart became a household name after she famously appeared alongside Lee Mack on the hit series Not Going Out.
After finding fame on the BBC programme, the 49-year-old star was quickly given her own platform as a budding comedian – despite only having a few smaller gigs beforehand under her belt.
The English actress proved to be so popular with fans, that she was eventually given her own autobiographical sitcom called Miranda – which was derived from her earlier Radio 2 series Miranda Hart’s Joke Shop in 2008.

In 2012, she landed the role of Camilla “Chummy” Fortescue-Cholmondeley-Browne in the BBC drama series Call the Midwife and she quit the role four years alter in August 2016.
Although Miranda achieved stardom in no time at all, not much is widely known about her private and personal life.
Here, Daily Star uncovers the detail.
Early years
The TV star was born in Torquay, Devon to parents Captain David Hart Dyke and Diana Margaret Luce.
Having been born into an aristocratic family of barons, marquesses, earls and dukes, it bares no surprise that Miranda was shipped off to an independent girls’ boarding school.
She was privately educated at Downe House, near Thatcham in Berkshire where she was acquainted with Gogglebox Celebrity star Claire Balding, who was head girl at the school.
After leaving with a degree she decided to pursue her real passion which was acting and headed to the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts to complete a postgraduate course.
Height issues
Miranda has spoke out in the past about her issues with her height.
Being 6ft tall Miranda explained in previous interview that she struggled at school because she towered over the other kids.
But through her adult years, the comedian has come to terms with the fact there is nothing she can do to change her height and now embraces it.
Speaking to The Mirror, she said previously: “Growing up when you are tall you feel like fish out of water and feel different and you don’t fit in.
“But as you get older you just think, ‘I can’t change it – I am who I am and I have got to love myself’.”
Love life
While there was much speculation about Miranda’s on-screen husband Tom Ellis, it appears their marriage was purely played out for her self titled sitcom and nothing else.
At the present time, it is believed that Miranda is not married or dating for that fact – although she tends to keep her private life very quiet unless speaking about her beloved pup Peggy – who sadly died in January last year.
The star who doesn’t have any children of her own was so down beat after losing her family member Peggy, that she had to take time off of work to recover.
In an interview with the Independent at the time, the actor and writer said: “Peggy was my absolute rock and source of all those things.”
BBC show exit
Miranda had been a huge hit behind the highly rated BBC One programme Call The Midwife.
She had starred in the hit series from 2012 to 2015 but mysteriously did not return for series four – which baffled fans of the show who adored her character “Chummy”.
According to speculation at the time, Miranda had suffered from an illness which had prevented her from returning to her role.
However, it was then believed that the posh midwife Chummy would be making a comeback with writers working frantically around the clock to re-prepare the scripts but sadly despite much effort from the team, Miranda still did not return.

A TV insider opened up to Bazaar about the situation, telling the publication: “The Call the Midwife team were really looking forward to having her back so felt equally disappointed by the U-turn.
“They felt she’d messed them about and it caused a real headache for the creators of a huge show which is incredibly challenging to make.
“They did every-thing they could to leave the door open in the hope that Miranda’s character might return. Now they would rather have certainty.”
At one point it was believed that Miranda would return for the Christmas special – as part of season six – but she pulled out again.
