This Morning’s regular chef Phil Vickery noted the “very meticulous way” the late Queen apparently ate her smoked salmon sandwiches when he appeared on the show on Wednesday.
Recalling the time he took a tour of the Buckingham Palace kitchens for the ITV Daytime show, Phil revealed something that he wasn’t allowed to speak about before now.
While in the Royal kitchen, a chef started to make some sandwiches in a very “meticulous” way after getting told something by a colleague.

Phil recalled that the chef sliced smoked salmon “so thinly” that a “newspaper could be read” through it.
“What I noticed was, he’d made them in two layers, all cut in fingers.
“And every finger that was cut, even the corner of the finger was cut off meticulously with a very small knife.”
He then went on to say: “I believe the Queen had come back from opening Crossrail at the time and popped back for her lunch.
“And I’m sure that was for her.”
Host Phillip then added: “I expect the fact that we weren’t allowed to talk about it is the fact that it was.”
“Let’s assume,” chef Phil then sweetly concluded with.
Elsewhere in the show chef Phil baked a delicious ginger cake, which was supposedly a favourite of Her Majesty – along with fruit cake.
This came on the same programme where Matthew Wright urged King Charles III to “sell Buckingham Palace” amid the controversial Clarence House sackings.
Speaking about the late Monarch and the new King, Matthew touched on the controversial redundancies that have been issued to staff at Clarence House.
“If you’d stayed in Clarence House, you could have perhaps sold Buckingham Palace,” Matthew unexpectedly said.
Host Phillip looked at Matthew and said: “Really?” while scrunching up is face in disgust.
