Katy Perry's track Dark Horse under fire over 'disrespectful' Jeffrey Dahmer line

Katy Perry has come under fire for referencing killer Jeffrey Dahmer in one of her songs.

The Roar singer’s track Dark Horse refers to the serial murderer with the grisly line: “She eats your heart out like Jeffrey Dahmer.”

But some fans think the lyric – which was performed by rapper Juicy J in the song – is “disrespectful”.

Dark Horse was unveiled back in 2013 but the backlash over the Dahmer lyrics have recently ramped up with the release of new Netflix series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.

The star’s Dark Horse has come under fire

The documentary tells the story of Dahmer, who was responsible for the death of 17 people between 1978 and 1991 and whose crimes included necrophilia and cannibalism.

Some fans have now posted messages on social media suggesting they don’t think the mention in a pop song is appropriate.

“Omggg in Dark Horse by Katy Perry and Juicy J he said ‘She’ll eat your heart out, like Jeffery Dahmer’,” tweeted one person, with shocked emojis.

“Katy Perry and Juicy J literally sang a song saying, ‘She eats your heart out like Jeffrey Dahmer’ which I find disrespectful asf to the families,” said another.

Jeffrey Dahmer is the subject of a new series

One posted: “Knowing the depths of what Jeffrey Dahmer did… Juicy J wrong for what he said in that Katy Perry song.”

“The Dahmer name drop in Katy Perry’s Dark Horse still makes me cringe tbh… Not sure what they were thinking,” said someone else.

However, others said they didn’t think the current backlash is entirely fair.

“Are people really calling out Katy Perry because of her Dahmer lyric in Dark Horse!?” tweeted one.

“Get a hold of yourselves people! You didn’t have a problem with it back then but now this new Netflix series is out you do!? Laughable.”

Another said it was “baffling” that the star had come under fire since the series was released.

“He’s a well known disgusting man, there’s been like 10+ series and documentaries made about him, the songs are also now old, why’s it only just clicked?” they added.

Daily Star has contacted a representative for Katy for comment.
