Jamie Oliver’s restaurant in Budapest has been hit with a slew of bad reviews – including one from a customer who said they’d “rather die” than eat there again.
The celebrity chef has left a sour taste in diners’ mouths after reportedly serving up raw meat, bland waffles and 4mm-thin steaks.
The European branch of Jamie’s Diner has been pummelled with a series of one-star reviews in recent months on TripAdvisor.

And disgruntled customers warn it could be following in the footsteps of Jamie’s Italian chain, which went bust in 2019 owing £83million.
One wrote: “I thought that Jamie Oliver was famous for helping children eat better in food cafeterias. Well, probably he did.
“All the bad food he took from the cafeteria he brought on the table at this restaurant. The salads were sweet, the sweet potatoes seemed to be made from cake batter, and the sauces were sweet.
“I will send my hospital the invoice for diabetes.”
They ended their review: “ This restaurant was an experience indeed. Asked if i would repeat it i will happily say: I’d rather die.”
Other savage reviews called the eatery a “poor excuse of a restaurant” and an “insult to the food industry”.
One unhappy diner claimed: “Poor quality and the burger came out red raw inside. Raw as in that pinky reddish hue of freshly slaughtered cow.”
Jamie’s Diner Budapest also saw one customer claim they were served up bloody chicken.
They said: “Waited over 1.25 hours for burger, chips and chicken meals. When it finally arrived the chicken was raw, bloody and cold inside.
“The food and service is an insult to the food industry and surely has no link to the man himself Jamie Oliver. The settings may look nice but trust me, avoid this place like the plague – it’s terrible!”
Diners experienced a mix of service, with some deeming it terrible, while others said they felt bad for the staff serving up dodgy food. One customer recalled being served up a 4mm thin rib-eye steak that “had no taste” despite the common thickness for the premium cut usually being around 1in.
They said: “The food quality was terrible. For the prices we saw on the menu, we expected much much better.”
Jamie’s Diner Budapest lies in Gozsdu Court in the Hungarian capital. It has a four-star rating on the Trip Adviser website.
A classic cheeseburger at the eatery costs around £9.32 – not including chips which cost an extra £2.09 – while the slammed ribeye steak costs £17.32.
Deep pan pizzas will set diners back £7.87 and they have to pay an extra £1.06 per helping of sauce.
Other diners had a better time, with one saying: “Outstanding service! Food is great. Really enjoyed my meal and very hot ristretto. This one I would highly recommend.”
And another said: “We ordered Burgers, we get burgers. Quality was fine, service was excellent.”
Jamie Oliver has another restaurant in Budapest: Jamie’s Italian at Buda Castle.
The Jamie Oliver Group declined to comment.
