TV director and actor Stuart Margolin has died aged 82.
The award-winning actor died of natural causes, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Stuart’s passing was announced on social media on Monday (December 12) by his stepson, actor Max Martini, who paid tribute to the actor with an emotional Instagram post.

He penned: “The two most profound moments in my life… the birth of my kids and being bedside as my step-father passed this morning.
“My mother, brother and I holding his hands. All the time in between birth and death, life, is up to us to fill with equally profound moments. Anyway, it made me realize how much time I’ve wasted on things that were never going to amount to anything.”
It continued: “Just a profound realization I thought I’d share. Love you Stuart Margolin. A great actor/writer/producer/director. But more importantly, a profoundly gifted step-father that was always there with love and support for his family.
“RIP Pappy. Keep ’em cold.”
Stuart won Emmys in 1979 and 1980 for the fifth and sixth seasons of NBC’s The Rockford Files, where he played the former cellmate of Jim Rockford (James Garner) for more than 36 episodes.
The actor also reprised his Angel role in eight Rockford Files TV movies during the 1990s in tribute to the show’s enduring popularity.
Stuart’s lengthy TV resumé includes roles on many iconic American shows, including The Fugitive, The Monkees, Bewitched, That Girl, The Partridge Family, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Gunsmoke, M*A*S*H, Rhoda, NCIS and The X-Files.
He began his career in the early 1960s, making a guest appearance on popular series’ like Ben Casey and Alfred Hitchcock Presents.
The actor continued to work in TV for the next three decades, with guest credits including Touched by an Angel, 30 Rock and NCIS.
Tributes have since been shared online.
“RIP Stuart Margolin. What a great character actor. So many memorable roles, but Angel on The Rockford Files is top of the list,” read one.
