Ricky Gervais has taken to Twitter to defend himself against fans who blamed him for being turned away from his show.
This comes after hundreds of people were seen lining the streets as they waited to get into a Ricky Gervais show at the York Barbican on Wednesday (January 11).
However, many didn’t get let in through the door on the night after reports of ticket problems.

Ricky Gervais himself responded to fans who were blaming him online, saying he was not aware of the issue until after the show had finished.
The comedian posted online after the event and said: “I’ve sent all this to the promotor at Live Nation and he is looking into it. I have no idea why this has happened tonight.”
One angry fan responded: “The venue told us that yourself and the team made the decision!”
Ricky then swiftly replied: “First I knew about it was on Twitter.”
Earlier in the night, people took to Twitter following claims of issues were due to orders coming directly from Ricky himself.
Some fans claimed that the venue was told by Ricky not to let people in if they had purchased tickets from ticket reseller Viagogo.
One fan wrote: “Anyone without an original ticket from Ticketmaster was directed out of the main entrance to the box office queue. After queuing for 30 mins you were handed a piece of paper stating they are not accepting.”
A second added: “I felt really sorry for others in the queue, apparently one lady on her own from Cardiff there with a Viagogo ticket. Luckily we were local and able to go home, no money spent on travel or hotel, still really p***ed off with the whole situation though.”
Earlier in the evening, there had been photos shared online showing hundreds of people standing outside the venue.
Some customers were simply refused entry because of where they had bought a ticket.
Many then complained about the amount of time wasted travelling and demanded a refund for the hassle.
Customers were then directed back to the ticket company for further assistance.
A photo was also posted showing a York Barbican leaflet that explained the refusal of entry.
It read: “You have been refused entry to York Barbican this evening using your tickets purchased with Viagogo.
“These tickets were not eligible for resale and have therefore broken the terms of conditions agreed to upon original purchase.
“York Barbican are not affiliated with Viagogo and they are a separate company.”
