BRIT Award winners Wet Leg cut off in acceptance speech as they cry 'f*** the Tories'

BRIT award winners Wet Leg got cut off mid-way through their acceptance speech after they slated a political party.

While accepting their second BRIT gong of the night, which was for Group of the Year, Wet Leg swore on live TV.

This then led to them getting cut-off mid-way through their speech – well, for viewers watching the show from the comfort of their homes anyway.

In the PG part of their speech, one of the band members said: “They build big ships and they build small ships, but they don’t build friendships,” before the other members chimed in.

But mid-way through the speech, one of the band members shouted: “F**k the Tories,” as heard by a Daily Star reporter attending the event, while viewers witnessed a glitch on the TV.

After finding out what the band said in their speech, one person on Twitter took to the BRITs hashtag and wrote: “I don’t know Wet Leg but now I’m interested in them.”

While another said: “So cool and edgy,” and a third penned: “Even more reason to love them!”

Wet Leg are a British indie rock band from the Isle of Wight and were founded in 2019 by Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers..

They debuted with the single Chaise Longue, the track they performed at the BRITs on Saturday, in 2021.

This comes after host of the BRITs Mo Gilligan spoke of a Conservative MP while carrying out his hosting duties.

While hosting the iconic ceremony at London’s infamous O2 Arena, Mo said that former health secretary Matt Hancock “wasn’t at the BRITs” but “would be on Casa Amor tomorrow night”.

Fans were quick to spot the cheeky dig, which came moments before Mo accidentally got Lewis Capaldi’s name wrong when he called him “Sam”.

Mo’s reference to Matt not being in the audience comes weeks after the MP-turned-I’m-A-Celeb-star was spotted in the audience of Dancing On Ice.
