One of Gino D’Acampo’s restaurants has been slapped with a one-star hygiene rating after it performed poorly during an inspection.
The celebrity chef owns restaurants across the country, but his venue at the INNSIDE Liverpool Hotel, his second in the city, has been given a rating of one out of five for hygiene.
According to Liverpool Council’s Food Standards Agency, the restaurant needs “major improvements”.

An appeal against the rating can be made, and it is also possible to ask for a re-inspection.
There have been no details as to why Gino’s INNSIDE venue received a one star rating, however the inspection would have looked at things like food handling, preparation, storage, cooking, and the cleanliness of the facilities.
Luckily, it seems it may be a blip on Gino’s record, as his venue at INNSIDE in Newcastle, and his restaurant in Birmingham both have five-star ratings, which means “very good”.
His London venue, Luciano Gino D’Acampo, has a four-star rating, which is “good”, and his restaurant in Leeds is still awaiting its inspection.
According to the Liverpool Echo, a spokesperson for Gino D’Acampo Hotels and Leisure for said: “We’re extremely disappointed with this rating and have taken immediate action to address the points raised.
“Our expert consultants have since conducted a robust audit and were satisfied that corrective measures have been met.
“A re-inspection has already been invited and we are confident of seeing a return to higher scores in line with our sibling restaurants.”
The venue previously had friction with the council when concerns were raised about its licence.
Eventually, it was agreed that the venue would stop serving alcohol at 2am, and the restaurant agreed they would not play music and would monitor sound output late at night.
