Coronation Street viewers were left reeling after scenes played out depicting the rape of Amy Barlow by Aaron as she slept.
Fans of the show found themselves ‘disgusted’ as drunk Amy passed out and predatory Aaron took advantage of her in her intoxicated state.
Viewers watched as Amy grew more and more drunk after a day and night out where she had downed several bottles of booze.

He was seen supporting her as she stumbled in the room unable to stand without his help due to her drunken state.
The pair then began kissing but Amy told Aaron she felt sick and laid down on the bed with him following and laying close behind her kissing her shoulders.
While she became visibly unresponsive he continued as the camera panned away and showed him flinging her knickers on the bedroom floor without any consent from her to take things further.
Outraged as the scene played out viewers took to Twitter to air their feelings.
One wrote: “That was not disgusting #Aaron. What the character is doing is not okay and I hope this storyline ends up with him being jailed and ultimately going on the sex offenders register!”
Another added: “Aaron is rancid! He’s gross.”
A third said: “Amy won’t remember, up the duff, doesn’t know how. Watch.”
A fourth social media user fumed: “Aaron she was asleep mate. You wrong un. She didn’t give consent for you to have intercourse with her. You’ve just committed rape man!!”
A fifth observed: “Nooooo #Aaron Amy is drunk/asleep! She has not given consent. STOP!!!”
More shocked viewers waded in as one added: “NO Means NO!!!! This is so horrible to watch.”
Another noted: “Sick twisted little scumbag is arron. That was uncomfortable !! Towards the end.”
