TV Presenter Davina McCall has spilled the beans on her “f****d up” relationship with her birth mum Florence Kock.
In a heartfelt Instagram post celebrating Mother’s Day, Davina shared a sweet snap of her stepmother Gaby McCall and her late father Andrew McCall as the pair cosied up to each other during a seaside outing.
Davina revealed that while she had a turbulent relationship with her birth mother, filled with “loathing,” she still had “loving” memories from their time together.

“Happy Mother’s Day to my step mum Gaby . I say she’s my step mum because amazing mother figures come in many forms.
“I had a crazy, funny, messy, fu**ed up, loving, loathing relationship with my birth mother ( if u relate follow @myhorridparent ) and Gaby was my rock,” said the star.
She went on to thank Gaby for her unwavering love and support, saying that amazing mother figures come in many forms.
“She and my granny kept me sane. And I am so grateful to both of them for their unwavering love x,” Davina wrote in her post.
“She’s also my children’s ‘Gabba’ and they absolutely ADORE her thank you Mumma I love you so much. Also big shout out to anyone trying … it’s a f***ing nightmare today for you.”
Davina’s honest words struck a chord with her fans, who thanked her for recognizing the complexities of Mother’s Day.
One fan who had lost her mother commented, “Lost my Mam November, but she was never really capable of loving me, so hearing all the best mum in the world messages draws up such mixed feelings of envy, loss, sadness etc. xx thank you for recognizing.”
Another fan wrote, “That made me tear up…thank you for understanding lost my lovely Mum.” A third fan agreed, saying “I totally get this.”
The former Big Brother host is set to front a Love Island-style ITV format for older people.
In The Romance Retreat, McCall, who also helmed Channel 4’s Language of Love, will oversee a UK country house in which single parents from all walks of life seek true love.
In an Instagram post, McCall wrote that the show will be for “single parents who have lived a life, have stories to tell about their dating pasts and deserve another chance at love.”
