Have you watched one too many boring films or shows with terrible acting? Sick of disappointing twists?

The new Trim extension adds ratings from IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes to the thumbnail of each show or movie in the Netflix menu.
Users can see reviews from millions of other viewers, rather than relying on Netflix algorithms which are based on the number of subscribers who watch at least two minutes.
Trim is free to download, and can even fade out the lowest rated flicks by filtering through rating preferences.
The extension’s description promises: “Trim enables and shows an extra tab for the hidden Netflix categories.
“You can browse your favourite genre by quickly clicking on the drop-down menu ‘Genre’ and selecting a favourite genre.”
That means horror fans will be able to find plenty of spooky movies at the press of a button, while comedy fans can find hilarious films in a few seconds.
There’s also a secret feature which can hide your viewing history from a significant other or your family.
Accessing the Profile and Parental Controls option on your Netflix profile lets you Open Viewing Activity for that user, and you can then click through the recently watched episodes or titles to hide the ones you don’t want anyone to see.
If you watched an episode of your favourite show without your partner, you can disguise the evidence by selecting a circle icon with a line inside – but changes take 24 hours to take effect.
And if you simply can’t find anything to watch, there are plenty of secret menus to access.

Using codes associated with a specific genre – which can be found on Google – you can access secret collections like High Brow Horror and 90-minute Movies.
Simply head to the desktop site and type in netflix.com/browse/genre, followed by the genre’s unique ID code – but this won’t work on mobile versions.
For example, the code for Romantic Comedies is 5475, while Cult Horror Movies can be accessed using code 10944.
