Coronation Street Geoff Metcalfe star unrecognisable three years after soap exit

Coronation Street star Ian Bartholomew looks unrecognisable three years after his soap exit.

Ian played evil domestic abuser Geoff Metcalfe in the ITV soap between 2018 to 2020, before the character was killed off during a rooftop showdown with his ex-wife Yasmeen (Shelley King) and her daughter Alya Nazir (Sair Khan).

Geoff actor Ian has kept a low profile since leaving Coronation Street and looked completely unrecognisable as he debuted a new look during a theatre outing this week.

The star looked worlds away from his soap character as he sported a grey beard and black glasses, paired with a smart black shirt and blazer.

He was spotted by fans at a pantomime of Mother Goose at Manchester’s Lowry Theatre on Wednesday (April 5), where he posed for photographs on the theatre’s purple carpet.

Ian was reunited with his fellow Coronation Street co-stars on the night too, including on-screen stepdaughter Sair Khan.

They were joined by West End star and Glenda Shuttleworth actress Jodie Prenger, alongside Nina Lucas star Mollie Gallagher, Sean Tully actor Antony Cotton and Ken Barlow icon William Roache.

Since leaving Coronation Street, Ian has continued to act onstage in productions such as The Homecoming in 2022, where he starred alongside Gavin and Stacey actor Matthew Horne.

Ian also appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in the same year as he performed an original song that he had written for domestic abuse charity Women’s Aid.

Appearing on the ITV programme, Ian said during the auditions: “The song I am singing I wrote myself and was used in a campaign by Women’s Aid to raise awareness about domestic abuse. I am not here for me, I am here for the charity and the abused victims.”

He added: “The song just came out and I approached Women’s Aid and that is why I am standing here now as this program has the most amazing reach.”
