The dad-of-two went on to discuss how the broadcaster stood by him when his brother Timothy Schofield, 54, was convicted of child sex offences.

Daily Star has reached out to Holly Willoughby’s representatives for a comment.

It comes after insiders told the publication that their relationship has “cooled” following issues which have “rumbled for some time” on the ITV show.

The source revealed: “Holly adores This Morning and for the first time in 14 years she has made it clear that should Phil ever leave she would want to stay. They are separate entities.

“To those around them on set, it has become clear recently that Holly and Phil are not as close as they once were.

“Professionally you would have no idea there was anything going on because on camera they are acting exactly the same, but behind the scenes their relationship has cooled.”

Holly first appeared on the ITV show back in 2009 when she replaced Fern Britton on the signature blue sofa.
