Carol Vorderman urges caller to go for ‘younger man’ after Pete Wicks flirtation

Carol Vorderman urged an unlucky-in-love This Morning caller to go for a “younger man” as she was struggling with guys her own age.

The I’m A Celebrity star shared her advice after being open about her own “special friends” and a recent online flirtathon with TOWIE hunk Pete Wicks.

Caller Rebecca, who used a fake name for anonymity, spoke to the This Morning regular on Friday (May 12) and explained her ex-husband had been 12 years older than her, and she felt men her age had too many expectations nowadays.

Single Carol, who has a handful of “special friends”, advised that she should look outside of her age range – and that the idea of a “cougar” was outdated.

“There are an awful lot of men younger than you,” she started.

“That generation haven’t been brought up with society telling them these so-called rules.”

Carol went on: “Try men a bit younger. Try a bit of that. I swear to you, it’s different for the younger generation. It’s better.”

As “Rebecca” mused over the idea, Carol said: “Women marry men where the woman is five years or more older than the man.

“It is much more common. It’s just that media doesn’t talk about it much unless it’s ‘cougar’ and society doesn’t talk about it.”

She finished: “Get out there Rebecca and put age to the back of your head.”

Carol, 62, was recently left speechless after she learned Pete, 35, was hoping to become one of her “special friends”.

Presenter Holly Jay-Smith told her to follow him on Instagram, with Pete then responding: “Ready when you are Carol…”

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV
