Alison Hammond has revealed that she previously appeared on BBC’s hit drama Doctors on two separate occasions.
The 48-year-old continued business as usual on Monday (May 29) as she hosted ITV’s This Morning alongside Dermot O’Leary.
Ignoring the recent scandal involving former host Phillip Schofield, the presenters spoke about Doctors to which an excited Alison revealed that she had two minor roles on the show.
Speaking candidly to Dermot, Alison revealed that she appeared on the weekday programme before and after she was a contestant on Channel 4’s Big Brother in 2002.
Shocked by her revelation, Dermot said: “Can we just take a moment, you’ve been in Doctors twice!”
Alison replied: “Yeah I’ve played two characters unrelated.
“The first character I was like a kindergarten teacher…”
Chiming in, Dermot said: That’s a big part!”
Alison then added that they wanted her to smoke on the show but as a non-smoker the producers gave her “special cigarettes”.
She then said: “Then the second part, I was the sister of somebody who was going through a really bad relationship and I was there encouraging her.
“But they were two separate parts. So one was before I was on Big Brother and one was after I was on Big Brother. How mad is that!”
At the start of the programme, Dermot and Alison appeared to confirm their future on This Morning following the scandal involving Phillip who recently revealed that he had an “affair” with a younger member of staff while working on the show.
Addressing one of the biggest entertainment stories of the year so far, Dermot said: “We know that we are in the news at the moment, we appreciate that, but we just want to say that we are happy here and we love working here and we love making this show for you, so that’s what we’re going to do.”
Alison chimed: “Yeah we really do and that’s exactly what were gonna do, we’ll continue to do that.”
But although the pair were all smiles, some viewers on Twitter still felt it was a “difficult watch”.
Taking to the social media platform, one user said: It’s difficult watching this morning right now, it’s chaotic & all over the place, I just can’t see it surviving, any slim chance of it surviving, they have to get rid of Holly, watching holly will keep reminding everyone of Schofield & we can’t handle that, she has to go.”
