Coronation Street fans shocked as ITV soap airs sudden exit for Ryan Connor

Coronation Street has aired a surprising exit for bartender Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott), and fans can’t believe it.

The bartender has faced an ultimate uphill battle since he intercepted an acid attack, leaving him with permanent damage to his face.

Ryan has had his fair share of drama in Weatherfield since he was first seen on our screens back in 2006, but the acid attack took the cake as the beloved character was left severely burned on his face and neck.

Ryan, who survived being stalked, a cocaine addiction and being hit by car, was shown expressing an emotional goodbye to the street.

His last scene revealed him saying to his mum: “I just don’t want to shell out for a cab.”

Fans expressed their sadness and concerns online, with a person tweeting: “I have just read that Ryan Connor might be moving to Ireland. I sincerely hope that you will not be announcing the death of Michelle Connor or all hell will be let loose.”

Another person wrote: “Ryan Prescott has been excellent in the acid attack storyline and has proven that he’s been underused during his time in Coronation Street. It’s a shame he’s gone.”

One Twitter user asked: “What, Ryan’s leaving ? For how long? He’s my fave in Coronation street.”

Fans were gutted that Ryan had left the village

While another exclaimed: “I don’t think I can live happily until Ryan is back.”

ITV bosses have yet to disclose whether Ryan’s emotional exit is to be taken as a permanent change, or whether fans can expect him to return.

Ryan’s episode illustrating the acid attack aired back in March, and aimed to “highlight the devastating impact and long-lasting effects of such heinous attacks,” according to ITV bosses who teamed up with The Katie Piper Foundation and Acid Survivors Trust International.
