Dog the Bounty Hunter star Duane Chapman has been faced with backlash after suggesting gay people “need to be saved” in a homophobic rant.
Duane, 70, made the remarks during an interview with Christian ministry founder Sharell Barrera on Tuesday (July 11) while sat next to his wife, Francie Frane.
He also blamed people who don’t “go out and be the church” for “kids changing their sexuality”.

“For many years, these holy rollers have done just that — rolled around,” he began.
“And you see where they’ve got us now. They’ve got kids changing their sexuality.
“They talk about tithing more than they do about what’s going on.”
Duane continued: “They’re so wacko themselves that where they have brought us all is to the gates of hell.
So we have to stop all that, rebuke them.”
The reality TV star later declared: “Jesus was not a sissy … he was not a sissy man.”
“We don’t need no more sissy men. We need men and women that are willing to stand up against evil and speak the word of God,” he concluded as both his wife and Sharell cheered.
Conversation later turned to Pride Month and businesses such as Target, which reportedly lost $9 billion following backlash over their Pride merchandise.
Duane said: “All these guys that are backing those jokers up are taking billion-dollar beatings, they’re falling.”
He added that he has “compassion” for “people that are lost like that” but they “need to be saved”.
While the bounty hunter confessed that he has LGBTQIA+ friends and family members, he said “that’s not the way God made us.”
“He didn’t make Adam and Steve, he made Adam and Eve,” Duane continued. “So, that’s exactly how it is.”
Duane’s comments have been criticised online, with one social media user writing: “What a miserable loser.”
Another added: “So, Dog the Bounty Hunter, a man who makes his living tracking down ‘bad guys’on reality TV is quoting Jesus now?
“How does he know what Jesus was into? How do we know what this dopey platinum blonde with the cheap wig is into? Give us all a break!”

Duane and Francie have since responded to the backlash stating: “We love all people and believe in the Word of God.
“The truth is we’re all sinners who need to seek repentance.
“We encourage everyone to read the Bible for themselves. If people don’t want to hear our beliefs, they can choose not to watch.”
Father-of-13 Duane was previously labeled as homophobic and racist by his daughter Bonnie, whom he shared with his late ex-wife, Beth Chapman.
Dog’s other daughter Lyssa Chapman is openly gay and married her longtime girlfriend Leiana Evensen on a Hawaii beach in June 2022.
