Asked if she played herself in the long-running series, Neil said: “I think she is playing a character called Holly Willoughby but I wouldn’t like to say that it’s herself.”
Holly’s role came about in 2021 as she was presenting This Morning with then co-host Phillip Schofield.
Neil and his co-star Nick Hendrix were on the ITV programme and told the TV star they would like her to invite her to shoot a guest role.

Holly said how much she loved the programme and jumped at the offer to be a part of it.
But she confessed: “You are going to have to kill me off really quickly because I am terrible at acting!”
She said that if her Midsomer character was going to be murdered, she knew exactly how she should go.
“If you kill me, can I die by eating chocolate?” she giggled.

“Because I saw an episode where someone died from eating chocolate and I thought, ‘That is the way to go’.”
The TV star later shared a photo from the set as she started filming, telling fans: “Excitement levels off the chart!”
