Phillip Schofield’s ITV inquiry in fresh twist as Eamonn Holmes not questioned

A fresh twist has emerged in the ongoing Phillip Schofield scandal after it was reported that Eamonn Holmes and his wife Ruth Langsford are yet to be questioned about the affair.

The report investigating the former This Morning host’s relationship with a young runner on the show is due to be published “very soon”.

However, Jane Mulcahy KC leading it is yet to speak to the husband and wife TV duo, who are former colleagues of Schofield, 61.

Eamonn has been very vocal in his damning of Schofield over the matter and has described how he and Ruth took it upon themselves to look after the runner who was “in a bad way”.

Adding further confusion to the saga, both Holly Willoughby and ITV’s director of TV, Kevin Lygo, have both been interviewed.

A source explained to the Sun: “Eamonn has extensive knowledge of the atmosphere at This Morning and has said before he thought Phil’s affair was ‘covered up’. He and Ruth were working on the show while it was going on.

“The fact he’s not been approached is leading to confusion as he could be key in helping engender change at ITV.

“If he and Ruth aren’t asked about what they know, it appears the investigation into This Morning and what went on may not be as thorough as people first believed it would be.”

Speaking in June, meanwhile, GB News star Holmes declared that he “knows the truth” before referring to the “toxic culture” which he claimed existed on This Morning.

Speaking on the channel at the time, he said: “I know what I know and they (ITV) don’t seem to know a lot. People take sides on these things whether it’s the Boris business or the Phillip Schofield business. But people can’t handle the truth.”

It prompted Lygo – who has admitted to handing in his mobile phone as part of the investigation – to hit out at Holmes and other stars who “never had a complaint” whilst at ITV themselves.

Schofield, meanwhile, is said to be in talks with several major publishers to release a tell-all book about the affair – on one condition.

The book would discuss the downfall of his career – though no money has reportedly been laid on the table as of yet.

A source claimed to The Mirro : “He made it clear in the conversation that he would like the chance to tell his story in full, and in some ways to draw a line under what has happened, but that he would not do so without the approval of his family.

“Stephanie and the girls have been his lifeline all this time, while he’s been going through hell in private.

“So any further discussions are on hold until he has spoken to them, and they are happy with him going ahead.”
