Good Morning Britain Entertainment Editor Richard Arnold was nowhere to be seen during the latest edition of the ITV breakfast show.
The freelance journalist, 53, usually discusses the latest news from the world of showbiz but instead singer Duncan James, best known for being part of noughties boyband Blue, stood in for the presenter on Monday (October 16) morning.
He spoke to hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley about the latest Strictly Come Dancing news as well as Madonna’s Celebration tour which kicked off at London’s O2 over the weekend.

Duncan’s addition of the GMB team was confirmed in August as he filled in for Richard over the summer holidays.: At the time, he said: “I’m super excited to be joining the Good Morning Britain family. I love the show and I’ve been on loads of times, not only with Blue but also when I was doing Chicago with Alexandra Burke, but this time it’ll be different with me presenting.”
He continued: “Being on the other side of the desk, it’ll definitely be different and a little bit nerve-racking but that’s what we do as entertainers, we’re always trying new things and doing new challenges, which keeps the adrenaline and excitement going.”
“I think I’m most looking forward to the natural banter that will happen on air with the hosts. I know that for a couple of days, I’ll be on air with Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley and I absolutely love Kate, I’ve known her for a long time. When I found out that I’d be on with her I was really excited. She’s just one of those people when you’re around her you just feel safe.”
He added: “Even when I told my Mum about this gig she was more excited about the Kate element than me actually presenting. But yes, I’m looking forward to sharing the desk with Kate and all of the other presenters and seeing what the banter will be like with everyone.”
Duncan’s new role on GMB is the latest shake-up in the programme as Susanna still continues to present the show with different co-hosts following Piers Morgan’s departure back in 2021.
