Coronation Street fans were left stunned at their screens as Carla Connor made a sudden exit from the ITV soap.
The businesswoman has had a rather dramatic past couple of months. Not only has she learned baddie Stephen drugged her with LSD in a bid to take her business, Underworld, but her beau Peter Barlow has also been arrested for his murder.
As fans will recall the serial killer has also tricked factory worker Michael into helping him steal £250,000 from the business account. However, Stephen’s reign of terror came to an end last week after Peter ran him over moments before he escaped a getaway car.

Now, the future of the factory is up in the air. Carla has assured everyone she will do what it takes to save Underworld. So much so that she is planning to leave the cobbles.
During Wednesday’s episode (October 18), and as the police’s investigation continues, Carla told Ryan she was heading to Spain in a bid to bag a lucrative deal.
Fans were left floored at Carla leaving the cobbles. Over on X, formerly known as Twitter, one person said: “And to drop everything like that and hop on a plane….as they all do… and it’s always Spain…”
Someone else added: “Peter’s full on fighting for his freedom right now & yet Carla’s f*****g priorities. Going to Spain tomorrow in a desperate bid to save the bloody factory rather be absolutely fucking glued to her Hubby’s side really? Should be making every second count, regret it if not.”
A third quipped: “Carla: I’m going to Spain,” along with a meme of someone mouthing the words ‘WHAT?’. Another added: “we least better get a scene of carla asking peter if he’s ok with her going to spain and she doesn’t just f**k off.”

Later on, she told Peter, who had been released pending investigation, that she was going to Spain. As expected Peter was gutted to hear the news.
Fans soon rallied round Peter, with one writing on X: “If Carla’s going to Spain then Peter is gonna spiral bless him.” Another added: “poors peter been through enough and now he has to look at ryan’s mug everyday while carla’s f****d off to spain.”
