Darkest celeb rituals – blood drinking, chicken sacrifice and boiling dead pets

The world of Hollywood can often seem as elusive as another planet – especially when A-listers reveal some of the strange rituals they take part in during their day-to-day lives.

From rappers sacrificing poultry in their homes to celebrity couples exchanging blood as a way of showing their love, the world of fame might as well be Venus when it comes to imagining what really goes on. Azealia Banks, for example, has her very own ‘witchcraft sacrifice’ room – and confessed to boiling the remains of her dead pet.

For Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox, it was strange blood rituals and painful engagement rings that best showed their romance. While Katy Perry has admitted to some pretty weird stuff of her own, including collecting hair samples from her closest pals.

Cat resurrection

212 hitmaker Azaelia Banks baffled fans when she dug up her beloved pet cat Lucifer after he died in an attempt to “bring him back to life”. The rapper posted a series of disturbing clips on social media before quickly deleting them.

In the clips, Azaelia exhumed the bagged remains of Lucifer, explaining to fans: “A lot of you guys don’t know, Lucifer the cat died three months ago, and we had to put him in the ground, and we’re digging him up for the very first time. She’s coming back to life c****.”

She then declared: “The cat… is in the bag.” Later, she stirred a boiling pot including what looked like a rotting skull, captioning the post: “She’s ready.” Azaelia wrote on Twitter: “Lucifer 2009-2020. My Dear kitty. Thank you for everything. A legend. An icon. Forever a serval serve.”

Believe it or not, that’s not even the strangest thing Banks has ever done. She also has a witchcraft room in her home, after allegedly sacrificing chickens in a room with grey walls and dark black marks smeared everywhere – with feathers strewn across the floor.

When Sia hit out at her for the alleged sacrifices, Azaelia told her to “have some respect for her traditional African religion” and branded her a “pompous b*tch”. She told Sia she has an “ugly, pasty dry winter skin face,” which “must be why she hides it all the time”.

Blood drinking

Transformers star Megan Fox has confessed to drinking the blood of her fiancé Machine Gun Kelly – before the pair were plagued by split rumours. She told Glamour UK: “So, I guess to drink each other’s blood might mislead people or people are imagining us with goblets and we’re like Game of Thrones, drinking each other’s blood.

“It’s just a few drops, but yes, we do consume each other’s blood on occasion for ritual purposes only,” she corrected. Fox went on: “It is controlled where it’s like, ‘Let’s shed a few drops of blood and each drink it’. He’s much more haphazard and hectic and chaotic, where he’s willing to just cut his chest open with broken glass and be like, ‘Take my soul.’”

MGK admitted to designing Fox’s engagement ring so that it would hurt her if she ever tried to take it off. Made from two interlocking magnetic bands, the ring forms a heart when snapped together, but were made of “thorns” which would hurt to remove.

He explained: “The concept is that the ring can come apart to make two rings. When it’s together, it’s held in place by a magnet. So you see how it snaps together? And then it forms an obscure heart. The bands are actually thorns. So if she tries to take it off, it hurts… Love is pain.”

He wrote on Instagram: “I know tradition is one ring, but I designed it with Stephen Webster to be two: the emerald (her birth stone) and the diamond (my birth stone) set on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love.”

Blood necklaces

Apologies if you thought the blood rituals ended there. But it wasn’t MGK and Megan who originated the idea of celebrities carrying each other’s blood around – Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton beat them to it.

Thornton told People magazine: “The necklaces were a very simple thing, ‘Hey let’s poke our fingers with a pen and smear a little blood on there and when we’re away from each other we’ll wear the necklace’. It was that easy. But by the time it came out in the press it sounded like we were wearing a bucket of blood around our necks.”

But he originally claimed Angelina bought clear lockets in which to store the blood, explaining in 2014: “She thought it would be interesting and romantic if we took a little razor blade and sliced our fingers, smeared a little blood on these lockets, and you wear it around your neck just like you wear your son or daughter’s baby hair in one.”

Even Kanye West’s ex Julia Fox has used her own blood to create art. In 2017, for her RIP Julia Fox show, she “extracted the blood with a syringe and used the syringe to paint on the silk.” She added: “ I love the way blood bleeds onto fabrics. I think the colour is mesmerising… I feel like blood is so precious, and it’s only right that it be displayed on a fabric which is just as precious.”

Stars like Tony Hawk, the band KISS and True Blood actor Jim Parrack have also used their own blood for various projects, while the posters for Saw III featured some of leading man Tobin Bell’s real blood.

Hair collection

I Kissed A Girl hitmaker Katy Perry admitted to keeping bits of hair from her besties in her purse. Back in 2013, she explained: “One of the first times I went to the Grammys, I got to share a dressing room with Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift.

“I asked them for a lock of their hair from each one of them, which is totally creepy, but awesome. I put little bows on them individually and put them in my purse. And that was my little secret and I’m a freak!”

She joked: “Everyone in my life seems to think I’m a hoarder, but if you ask me, I’m a collector!”

Tik Tok songstress Kesha admitted to Vogue that she used to cover herself in beer before going on stage, before rolling around in glitter on the floor to make sure it stuck to her skin. She admitted that despite having to stop, it was fun while it lasted.

She said: “Before I went on stage I used to pour beer on my body then roll in a bathtub full of glitter. I don’t do that anymore because it irritated my skin. And I have this facialist, Francesca Paige, who is a magician. Before I have anything [important to go to], I get this crazy oxygenating treatment – it makes your skin glow. And I get these collagen sheet masks from her that I soak in bottled water then put on my face. She’s a lifesaver.”

Giving more details on her strange regimen with Jimmy Kimmel, she admitted: “When I first started, I was just young and naive, and I used to bathe myself in beer and then roll around in it, but then I started getting a skin rash … it worked, but it was sort of fermenting my skin.

“I started using baby oil, which is my method now. I fill up a bathtub and just get all oiled up, and then I get in, submerge my body. I’ve had glitter in all the unmentionables. And everybody on my tour, we have fun ’cause we compare stories … I don’t know if I can say this on TV!”
