Michael Jackson’s girlfriend from the Thriller music video, Ola Ray, looks worlds away from the clip 40 years on.
The music video hit screens on November 2, 1983, and is known as Ola’s first major gig before going on to appear in a number of TV shows and movies. Throughout her career she gathered up a lot of notable credits, including landing Playboy’s Playmate of the Month in June 1980.
Years on, Ola now regularly posts on TikTok and has built up a career on both TV, the big screen and wrote her own book. In recent months she’s been sharing videos dancing along to various tracks.

She still has her stunning curls but in recent clips she’s been donning a bold red lippy. Immediately fans rushed to the comments and realised they recognised her from the hit track.
One user wrote: “Look at you!! Miss Ola Ray!! Still as gorgeous as ever.” While another said: “Homegirl still beautiful to this day.”
Another wrote: “My sisters and I watch the Michael Jackson Thriller video every year at this time and we love you in it.” Last year Ola spoke out about her quick rise to fame after the music video.
Ahead of her book launch The Thrill Of It all, she wrote on her website that people regularly approach her in the street to ask what it was like to be in a music video with Michael Jackson. She said that after avoiding the public eye for so long, she was ready to share her life.
She wrote: “My disappearance was never intended, yet the mysteriousness became safe. Michael and I understood the mystery.”
Ola went on to explain that she never expected her career to take off in the way it did and explained it was a complete “whirlwind”. After her stint in the iconic video she appeared in movies including Fear City, The Night Stalker and played a Playboy Playmate in Beverly Hills Cop II.
Despite rising to fame on the iconic music video, she’s been hit with controversy too. She previously tried to collect royalties from the project.
In 2009, she sued Jackson to try and get the cash, but he died less than two months later. Three years later the Michal Jackson Family Trust settled for a reported 75,000 (£57k), according to TMZ, with $55,000 (£42k) going directly to her legal team.
She was frustrated again in 2017 when the 3D version of the video was released, telling the Daily Mail that she was “outraged”. Ola claimed she contacted the director but he didn’t respond to her email.
